Global Launchpad is a four-month training program designed to provide social entrepreneurs with the tools, coaching, and hands-on learning needed to effectively grow their early-stage ventures. The program will culminate in a showcase for the Hong Kong social venture community and will give participants the tools to build lasting advisory relationships.
With content modeled after Chicago Booth’s premier social venture launch program (the John Edwardson, ’72, Social New Venture Challenge), Global Launchpad blends lectures grounded in theoretical frameworks with opportunities to apply these frameworks and hands-on coaching from Chicago Booth faculty. The program will take place over a three-day workshop in December 2018 and a second three-day workshop in March 2019, coupled with regular coaching sessions in between. Global Launchpad will culminate in a demo day allowing participants to pitch in front of local stakeholders and investors. Participants benefit from a high-touch experience with Booth faculty and gain a tailored plan to address the unique needs of their businesses and take them to the next level.
This program is an ideal fit for:
Social enterprises (i.e., for-profit businesses with a clear social mission) or NGOs relying primarily on revenue-driven activities. Participating ventures should have a live product or service (i.e., be past the concept phase) and should be looking to expand impact, increase revenues, branch into new markets, and reach sustainability. Ideally, ventures will have done some work to validate product/market fit and have some revenues from users, but neither is necessary.
After participating in Global Launchpad, attendees will be able to:
• Improve market size estimates and unit economics analysis, then use this information to inform decisions about company financial models
• Create efficient measures of impact and communicate those to potential investors
• Build upon current business concepts by adding new tools for customer discovery and go-to-market strategies
• Manage common occurrences that come with venture growth, including building an advisory board
• Refine the investor pitch by successfully honing your company’s story
Certificates will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the program.
