Beyond the Pandemic: Improving Healthcare Systems Slashes Deaths from Air Pollution

A study finds that improvements made to the healthcare system in post-SARS Hong Kong led to fewer cardio-respiratory deaths caused by air pollution, and also enabled the system to handle COVID-19 effectively. As the world faces COVID-19, governments may want to take this opportunity to learn the importance of strengthening its healthcare systems which is not only crucial during epidemics, but also on a day-to-day basis.
